“Spine”

When I moved from Europe to the US I quickly realized I couldn’t just transplant my old identity into the new environment. Instead, I had to find a way to adapt to a new society while staying true to who I authentically was, at my core:

“I had to re-imagine not who I was, but who I ‘could be’ on this side of the ocean.”

The result became an oscillating experiment with my essence, my core, the "spine of me" as the anchor point. Not static, but fluid. Yet fully authentic.

Can you relate? It doesn't require a big move but when did you last find yourself in a position of necessary change where you were fully open to adapt yet not lose who you are deep inside?

React vs respond - "re-imagine what else is possible."™

“Spine” - oil on canvas, 30 x 40 x 1.5 inches. Finished edges in dark blue-grey make framing optional. Comes with a Certificate of Authenticity.
